Ingredients

  • 4 large onions
  • 200 g Camembert or oven cheese
  • 100g grated Gouda
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 teaspoon thyme or oregano
  • Salt
  • pepper
  • optional: 1 teaspoon honey
  • optional: chives

Instructions

  1. Peel the onions and cut them in half crosswise - the root remains at the bottom as a “cup”.
  2. Using a small knife, carefully remove 2-3 inner onion rings to create a hollow for the cheese - the outer rings remain as an edge.
  3. Stuff Camembert and Gouda cheese into the onion halves.
  4. Season with butter, thyme, salt and pepper.
  5. Optionally drizzle with honey.
  6. Place in aluminum molds or wrap tightly in aluminum foil.
  7. Grill over medium, indirect grill heat for 15-20 minutes until the cheese has melted and the onion has softened.
  8. Sprinkle with chives and serve warm.
